(this starts from when Helmer reads the letter...after he's done)

Helmer: Nora!!! (he yells across the hallway for her)

Nora: (walks in slowly) Yes... my love! Here I am.

Helmer : Please explain the meaning of this letter to me now!!

Nora : I can't...it's too much to bear...No matter how much i try, you'll never understand.

Helmer: What is there to understand? Everything is clearly written and explained in the letter! How dare you do this to me?

Nora: (Nora remains silent and speechless. There is nothing she can do or say to spare her from her husbands anger)

Helmer: You weak imbecile! How could you do this to me? My whole career that I've worked for is ruined- because of you. How foolish can you be?

Nora : (weeps in her hands desperately) I'm sorry Thorvald! I did it all for you! I had to! How else would i be able to care for the man i love. I did it all out of my love for you.

Helmer: (looks her in the eye and holds her hand) Nora-Look me in the eyes and tell me why you did it. Why did you forge your father's signature knowing all the consequences that would follow?

Nora: (she grabs his hand and continues to speak to her husband) Thorvald, i borrowed the money from Krogstad.

Helmer: Yes. Yes. Continue, I'm very aware of this.

Nora: I borrowed the money from him to spare your life. Never would i do anything like this for anyone else, only for the one whom I love. Now please, out of your love and compassion for me, please try to understand me. You were sick and there was nothing else I could do. I had no other source of money to save you. I had to find a way somehow and I had to do it soon. I borrowed the money from him and now until this very day, I am still in the process of paying him back. Everyday i do my best to raise money. Why? I do it for the one i love and...

Helmer: (he cuts her off as she is about to finish) Yes my dear. Now I understand and have come to my senses. I'm very sorry if i have said or done anything to upset you tonight. Please forgive me. (He wipes the tears off her face)

Nora : Now do you see why i did it Helmer? All for you. For these past eight years we've been married, everything i have done or worked for has been for you. The least i could expect...

Helmer: (He cuts her off and grabs her. He holds her tight in his arms. Then finally after a long pause he takes her hands and leads her to their bedroom.

THE END!!!!

Act II Post

Today we finished reading act 2 in class. It was very interesting. Nora continues to be more and more slick. She still hasn't told her husband the secret yet. There is something suppressing her from doing so. Shes knows what kind of consequences she'll have to face. Now it seems like Mrs. Linde is turning into a hypocrite. Why would she betray her own friend like that? You told her you would do something but when the situation is right in front of you, you change in the split of a second. This isn't fair to Nora. Mrs. Linde pretty much just lied to her face. The story is filled with liars and backstabbers. Who will be betrayed next??

Vanessa Mathieu
Period 2
5/26/10

So far, the play includes alot of themes and symbols. One character in particular represents an important role throughout the play. This character is Nora. She represents the role of women and how women were looked down upon during that time. Now, this just comes to show you how much things/society has changed. Women can pretty much do anything that men can nowadays. Her husband treats her unfairly. He seems to treat her with less respect than she deserves. Nora can well be realted to Ruth from A Raisin in the Sun. Walter treated Ruth, the same way Nora's husband treats her. In both plays, the women have no say in anything
In the play, Nora has an inner conflict with herself. If she had not forged her father's signature, she wouldn't be going though that mind struggle. Now she is paranoid and worried that she will get caught. Hopefully she doesn't get caught. If she does, she'll lose everything she has and everything she worked for. We'll have to keep on reading to find out.
